Hello CWC Members!

February is here, and it’s wonderful to feel the energy of our club in full motion again. January was filled with great moments, and I so enjoyed seeing familiar faces alongside many of our newest members at events. One of the special things about CWC is the way friendships form so naturally, and that starts with a simple hello!, so please take a moment at an upcoming event to introduce yourself and welcome someone new.

I’d like to take a moment to address an important issue for our club: last-minute and same-day cancellations for events. Recently, we’ve seen an increase in these cancellations, and they can have a ripple effect across the organization.

When spots open at the last minute, other members who would have loved to attend often miss the opportunity. These cancellations also impact the considerable time and effort our Club Chairs and Co-Chairs invest in planning each event. In addition, they affect our relationships with vendors who plan and staff based on expected attendance—and, in some cases, our philanthropic efforts, when fewer helping hands are available than anticipated.

Of course, illnesses and family emergencies do happen, and we completely understand those circumstances. Our simple request is this: when you register for an event, please do so with the genuine intention of attending. If your plans change, we ask that you cancel as early as possible. And if the event is already closed in the system, please be sure to notify the Club Chair directly.  Your thoughtfulness and consideration truly help our club run smoothly and fairly for everyone. Thank you so much for your cooperation—we sincerely appreciate it.

Looking ahead, our next big social gathering is the Galentine’s Luncheon on February 11th at the Hilton Garden Inn Waverly. This will be a wonderful event, featuring time to reconnect with friends, an engaging speaker, a delicious lunch, and great vendors to help with Valentine’s shopping. There are still spots available, so I hope you’ll consider registering before the deadline of noon on February 3rd. I look forward to seeing many of you there and continuing to enjoy all that our club has to offer together.

Warmly,
Laurey

Volunteer Events & Happenings in Philanthropy

A BIG THANK YOU FROM PHILANTHROPY!

Thank you so much for your generous support of our January Drive for Bright Blessings!

Your donations have provided over a 100 gifts for their Bless-A-Birthday program which brings joy and positive recognition to homeless and impoverished children who’s special day may otherwise go unnoticed.

We also collected over 200 bottles and teethers for the Bless-A-Baby program which provides a heathy and positive start for the tiniest victims of poverty.

Our next volunteer event at Bright Blessings:

Tuesday, March 10th and registration opens Friday, February 20th.

We are able to accommodate a larger group than most of our philanthropy events so look forward to seeing many of you there!

Welcoming New Members to CWC
At the Carolina Women’s Club, we want new members to feel comfortable and welcome from the very beginning. Joining a new group can feel like a big step, so we make an effort to offer friendly points of connection and helpful information as members get started.  Here’s how we welcome new members:

Welcome Phone Calls
A friendly phone call gives new members someone to connect with, ask questions, and feel
supported early on.

Welcome Letters
New members receive a welcome letter with useful information about CWC and what to expect as they begin participating.

New Member Coffees
Our New Member Coffees are a relaxed way to meet other new members, connect with current members, and learn more about the club in an informal setting. We hold three or four of these annually.

Member Profiles
We add photos to new members’ profiles to help put names with faces and make it easier to recognize one another at events. Please make sure to add yours to your profile!

New Member Table at Luncheons
At luncheons, the New Member Table offers a comfortable place for first-time attendees to sit, meet others, and make connections.

And Most Importantly … It’s the welcome they receive at events from current members!
Please make the time to greet someone new and get to know them. Share your favorite CWC
activities with them and invite them to sign up!

These small but meaningful touches are designed to help new members feel connected and ready
to enjoy everything the Carolina Women’s Club has to offer.
