Promising Pages
We were pleased to have Anna Graham, Community Engagement Coordinator, as our guest speaker. The organization operates similarly to a food bank, but for books. Over 80% of their books are donated, with the primary focus on infant-elementary ages. They are distributed via various outlets like homeless shelters and clinics, and with community partners like CM libraries, CMS schools and Augustine Literacy Project. One of their biggest programs is Books on Break, where elementary students in high poverty schools are allowed to pick out 5 books at the end of the school year, for summer reading. New this year are mobile book carts at NICUs in area hospitals.
They were thrilled with our donation of close to 300 books during our drive this year. If you have used books in good condition or would like to donate new books, you can bring them to Ceci Robinson’s front porch at 11105 Queary Court, in Ballantyne.
