Dear Philanthropy Friends:

Greetings on this rainy day.  After speaking with a family member, I have an update on our beloved Abbie Volpini .

As you know, she was hit by a car while riding on her bicycle on February 7th,  and has been in the ICU since then.  She had surgery on the 13th.  In the next day or two, she will be moved from ICU to a regular hospital room, and her breathing apparatus  will be removed. This is very good news!  She remains  sedated, however, due to the extent of injuries, which are serious.  They range from her head to her spine to a broken right femur.

Starting this coming Wednesday, we can begin  sending cards to her home:  (They asked us to wait a few days).  Her address is:

I know that there is so much more we wish to do, including starting a meal train for her family.  There may come a time when we are able to visit her  (not anytime soon.)   BARBARA HAMBACHER is going to be the point person for all of this.  Barbara will be in touch with all of us when the time is right.
